No assembly was required. I expected better quality for the price. Overall construction is ok but not as sturdy as it should be. The drawer is made from lighter weight soft wood. The bottom of the drawer is thin a bows down if you put something slightly heavy in it. I am uncomfortable filling the drawer with silverware for fear it will not hold the weight.

Love the light wood, the the design and style. Overall not bad quality, but the drawer is very weak. Bought two of them because it is hard to find light wood in the dimensions I wanted. This piece is overpriced, but the service recieved upon delivery made up for the price. The only assembly required was putting the knobs on the doors. I rate this piece as average because I have seen worse and I have seen better.

The wood is hardwood and the piece is beautiful. You cant beat the free shipping and the only thing you need to do is screw on the handles
